The poems featured here have been written at different times and in different ways. Some of them have forced themselves on me in that I have woken up in the middle of the night and they were there to be written down asap and polished later. Other started off as fragments that suddenly came to me and then have been worked and reworked many times, some over many years.
I see poetry as concentrated thought and emotion expressed in words. Sometimes they express succinctly what otherwise would or has taken me many pages to express rather less powerfully. They seem to come from a deeper place, only partially the expression of the conscious mind. Perhaps that is true for rather more than we usually think.
